So we have the same problem here, but there is no disk drive, i can not use the external because its not loaded on the computer already and since it wont boot there is no way to loan the installation disk. I tried to burn from my other computer to a cd, then tried to copy that to an external hardrive, but that did not work either

I had a hard disk failure and could no longer create a system image on cds but only on my passport but I did have some repair disks none of which worked to restore W7 on my Dell Laptop. I installed a new 500GB WD disk that shows up at boot. It is asking for drivers and an operating system.
Your startup disk got me to the point of System Recovery Options but I cannot get to the system image on the passport disk although I can see the libraries on the mypassport disk.
However it keeps asking for the drivers and I can’t seem to locate those.
Any ideas?

Thank you for providing the download links; have been having the boot issue for a week now, and could not seem to find a solution. I do have 2 questions before I run it:

1. To do a Win7 repair, will any files/folders be deleted on the PC?
2. I have the 64bit version, but does it matter if it is Pro or Home?

I am downloading 64 bit windows 7 now on my pc. Once it is done & I save it on a disc, Do I need to format it or anything before I load it into my screwed up Toshiba Satellite laptop?

I have a toshiba satellite l755 and am I suppose to be getting my desktop to show up when I do this or not. Because I just get the Windows Error Recovery menu.

Please can you explain a little bit about the files i have in my computer ( i mean the hard drives other than c) do they lose upon booting using the way already mentioed or do not worry about my files? Thanks very much

Chris, read the second note highlighted under the links where you’ve downloaded your file, “Note: The system repair discs above are in ISO format. Learn how to burn an ISO image in Windows 7.” Therefore you cannot use the file as it is, but it needs to be burned into a format that can be read by the boot manager. If you do not have access to a CD then you would need to probably ask a friend to burn that ISO image for you and then copy those files back onto the flash drive. I am not sure this is gonna work, but I would make sure to clean the flash drive of any other file other than the Windows 7 System Repair files.

Also when you turn your computer on it automatically tries to start up using the Windows 7 operating system installed in the hard drive. You need to change that so that instead of looking for an operating system in the hard drive, it actually reads your flash drive first. In order to change that order you need to power on your pc and before it tries to start Windows you need to hit F12 which will open the list of possible drives to start from and you need to select the USB flash drive and hit enter. . .Again, this is only after you’ve burned that ISO image file you’ve downloaded onto a CD or whatever media you wanna use and then transfer those files back on the USB drive.

I’ve tried what you’ve noted above. I’ve downloaded the windows system repair and put it on a flash drive as I don’t have access to a CD-R and still get an OS not found error upon start up. Any suggestions?

Sir I use lenovo B460e that does not have disk drive …. I use only bootable pendrive I’ve prob booting manager
Windows failed to start a recent hardware r software a change might be the cause to fix problem
1.insert ur window installation disk and restart your computer
2.choose your language setting and then click next
3.click repair your computer
If you don’t have a disc contact your administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

I was unable to make a System Repair Disc myself on an OEM W7x64HP Toshiba L755 laptop:
“System repair disc could not be created. Windows was unable to parse the requested XML data. (0x800705B9)”
Googling I found that other people also have this same problem.

So I very much appreciate your providing a direct download of these System Repair Discs, otherwise I wouldn’t have any way to obtain one. Your downloaded disc appears to work fine, or at least as the author intended.

It’s a little quirky and non-intuitive so there’s a small learning curve. Some of the operations require a W7 install disc, which of course I do not have because it’s an OEM W7 computer, but some operations will work without it.

You know what? I’m soooo happy to be back into my Win 7 system after my installation disc would not read in the player. Saw that MS are trying to charge people for recovery discs or make them buy a whole new OS disc. Shame on you Micro$oft…

Hi sir,

This is one only site that provides the detailed steps. I am having a “window boot manager” error, I need to have an installation disc to fix this problem.

For Step 6:

Download a system repair disk:

32 vs 64 bit. My laptop is in a window boot manager state, i cannot verify whether my laptop is 32 or 64. Another question, Suppose I am copying the file into disk using your 32 bit, will it work on both laptop computer or desktop? My operation system is window 7 home edition(dell inspiron 1545)

ok, so I keep getting the error message “BOOTMGR is compressed/missing press Ctrl-Alt-Del/any key to restart” I do not have access to a windows Seven Disc, My DVD/CD Drive is not accessable. and All I have is a 8G USB memory stick. I am just looking for some link to get the repair info i need to utilize the memory stick as a repair disk. Any any help here would be stellar. I am currently using my PS3 for internet searching and DLing. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!! please. before i am bald ;-)
