Disable Protected Mode in Internet Explorer

Learn how to disable protected mode in Internet Explorer for Windows 7.

Disable Protected Mode

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Open Internet Options in the Control Panel.

    Note: If Internet Options is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel window.

  3. Click the Security tab in the Internet Properties window.

  4. Select the zone you want to disable protected mode in and then uncheck Enable Protected Mode.

  5. Click OK to save the changes.
  6. Click OK in the warning window.
