Enable Windows Defender’s Real Time Protection

Learn how to enable Windows Defender’s real-time protection in Windows 7.

Turn Real-time Protection On

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Open Windows Defender in the Control Panel.

    Note: If Windows Defender is not available, change View by to Large icons.

  3. Click Tools at the top of the Windows Defender Window.

  4. Click Options in the Settings section of Windows Defender.

  5. Click Real-time protection.

  6. Check off Use real-time protection (recommended) and then click Save.
