“Installed Updates” allows users to view and uninstall updates currently installed on the computer. The updates are often downloaded directly from Windows Update or from various program publishers.

If this setting is disabled or not configured, the “View installed updates” task and the “Installed Updates” page will be available to all users.

This setting does not prevent users from using other tools and methods to install or uninstall programs.

Hide Installed Updates

1. Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.

   Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions of Windows 7.

2. Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, and then select Programs in the left column of the Group Policy editor.

3. Double-click Hide “Installed Updates” page in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
4. Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes.
