Learn how to hide the “Programs and Features” page in Windows 7.
This setting prevents users from accessing “Programs and Features” to view, uninstall, change, or repair programs that are currently installed on the computer.
If this setting is disabled or not configured, “Programs and Features” will be available to all users.
This setting does not prevent users from using other tools and methods to view or uninstall programs. It also does not prevent users from linking to related Programs Control Panel Features including Windows Features, Get Programs, or Windows Marketplace.
Hide “Programs and Features” Page
- Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.
Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions of Windows 7.
- Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, and then select Programs in the left column of the Group Policy editor.
- Double-click Hide ”Programs and Features” page in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
- Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes.
