Install Windows Games

Learn how to install Windows Games in Windows 7.

This guide shows you how to install games that come with Windows 7. You can install all of them or choose from Chess Titans, Free Cell, Hearts, Internet Backgammon, Internet Checkers, Internet Spades, Mahjong Titans, Minesweeper, Purple Place, Solitaire, or Spider Solitaire.

Install Windows Games

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Open Programs and Features in the Control Panel.


    Note: If Programs and Features is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel.

  3. Select Turn Windows features on or off in the left column of the Programs and Features window.


  4. Check off Games to install all available games, or expand Games and check off the game(s) you want to install, and then click OK.

    I have an issue with window 7 x64.
    I have no problem to add other games from turn windows feature on or off but I can not add Solitaire or Spider solitaire.
    Have looked at window logs
    When I checked the application log error evenID 1001

    Response: Not available
    Cab Id: 0

    Any suggestion how I can fix this so I can play spider?

    When I do the install for the games, it doesn’t install them. It loads for a while and then tells me it wasn’t able to install.
