Learn how to change the Gadget Gallery’s more gadgets link in Windows 7.
This policy setting allows you to override the More Gadgets link. The Gadget Gallery contains a link for users to download more gadgets from a website. Microsoft hosts a default website where many gadget authors can post their gadgets. This link can be redirected to a website where alternate gadgets are available.
If you enable this setting, the Gadget Gallery will direct users to the alternate web site.
If you disable or do not configure this setting, the Gadget Gallery will direct users to the default web site.
The default is for Windows to direct users to the default web site.
Override the More Gadgets Link
- Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.
Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions of Windows 7.
- Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and then select Desktop Gadgets in the left column of the Group Policy editor.
- Double-click Override the More Gadgets link in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
- Select Enable, type the new “More Gadgets” link, and then click OK to save the changes.
