Learn how to prevent someone from changing the screen saver in Windows 7.
Prevents the Screen Saver dialog from opening in the Personalization or Display Control Panel.
This setting prevents users from using Control Panel to add, configure, or change the screen saver on the computer. It does not prevent a screen saver from running.
Prevent Changing the Screen Saver
- Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.
Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions of Windows 7.
- Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, and then select Personalization in the left column of the Group Policy editor.
- Double-click Prevent changing screen saver in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
- Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes.
