Learn how to prevent Windows 7 from showing recently opened items in the start menu and taskbar.

Prevent Recently Opened Items from Displaying In the Start Menu and Taskbar

  1. Right-click the taskbar (the bar with the start orb and time) and then select Properties.
  2. Select the Start Menu tab in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.

  3. Uncheck Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.
