Learn how to prevent Windows 7 from showing recently opened programs in the start menu.

Prevent Recently Opened Programs from Displaying in the Start Menu

  1. Right-click the taskbar (the bar with the start orb and time) and then select Properties.
  2. Select the Start Menu tab in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.

  3. Check off Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.
