Prevent Specific Files or Folders from Being Shared with a HomeGroup

Let’s say you have a folder of pictures or document that you don’t want other people in your HomeGroup seeing. This guide shows you how to prevent a file or folder from being shared in the HomeGroup.

How do I stop some files from being shared in my HomeGroup?

  1. Go to the computer on your HomeGroup that has the files you don’t want other computers on the HomeGroup seeing.
  2. Navigate to and select the folder or file in Windows Explorer.

  3. Click Share with and then select Nobody.

Now that file or folder is invisible to everyone in the HomeGroup.
