Prevent the Action Center from Showing Windows Update Messages in Windows 7

Stop Windows 7 from notifying you about Windows Updates in the notification area.

  1. Type act in the Start Menu’s search box and then press Enter on the keyboard.
  2. Click Change Action Center settings at the top of the Action Center’s left column.

  3. Uncheck Windows Update under the Security messages section of the Change Action Center settings window.

  4. Click OK to save the settings.

Now you won’t be notified about Windows Updates in the notification area (the little icons next to the clock on the taskbar).
