Learn how to prohibit access of the Windows Connect Now wizards in Windows 7.
This policy setting prohibits access to Windows Connect Now (WCN) wizards. If this policy setting is enabled, the wizards are disabled and users will have no access to any of the wizard tasks. All the configuration related tasks, including ‘Set up a wireless router or access point’ and ‘Add a wireless device’, will be disabled. If this policy is disabled or not configured, users will have access to the wizard tasks; including ‘Set up a wireless router or access point’ and ‘Add a wireless device’. The default for this policy setting allows users to access all WCN wizards.
Prohibit Access of the Windows Connect Now Wizards
- Type gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press Enter.
Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions of Windows 7.
- Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Network, and then select Windows Connect Now in the left column of the Group Policy editor.
- Double-click Prohibit Access of the Windows Connect Now wizards on the Advanced menu in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
- Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes.
