Learn how to restart the Windows 7 search engine.
If you don’t want to go through all the steps below to restart the search service, you can simply restart the computer.
Restart Windows Search
- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Open Administrative Tools in the Control Panel.
Note: If Administrative Tools is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel.
- Open Service from the Administrative Tools window.
- Highlight the Windows Search service and then click Restart in the top left of the Services window.
