Prevent IE from Searching for Unknown Web Sites

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
  2. Open Internet Options in the Control Panel.

    Nteo: If Internet Options is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel.

  3. Select the Advanced tab in the Internet Properties window.

  4. Select Do not submit unknown addresses to your auto-search provider and then click OK to save the changes.
