Set Microsoft Security Essentials to Exclude a File Type

Exclude a File Type in MSE

  1. Open Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) by going to Start, All Programs, Microsoft Security Essentials, and then select Microsoft Security Essentials.

  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Excluded file types in the left column of the Settings tab.

  4. Type *. followed by the file type (*.jpg, *.txt, *.png, so on) and then click the Add button.

  5. Click Save changes and you’re done!
