Set Microsoft Security Essentials to Exclude a Process

Exclude a Process in MSE

  1. Open Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) by going to Start, All Programs, Microsoft Security Essentials, and then select Microsoft Security Essentials.

  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Excluded processes in the left column of the Settings tab.
  4. Click the Add button.

  5. Browse to the process, select it, and then click OK.

    Note: Only files with the extensions .cmd, .bat, .pif, .exe, .com, and .scr can be selected.

  6. Click the Save changes button.
