Set Microsoft Security Essentials to Not Create a Restore Point before Applying Actions

Warning: I do not recommend stopping MSE from creating restore points before it attempts to remove malware. If MSE breaks something in the process of removing malware you won’t be able to easily undo it.

Set MSE to Not Create Restore Points

  1. Open Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) by going to Start, All Programs, Microsoft Security Essentials, and then select Microsoft Security Essentials.

  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Advanced on the left side of the MSE window.

  4. Uncheck Create a system restore point and then click the Save changes button.
