Set the Amount of Idle Time Before Windows 7 Goes to Sleep

Learn how to set when Windows 7 goes to sleep.

Set when Windows 7 Sleeps

  1. Open the Control Panel in the Start menu.
  2. Open Power Options in the Control Panel.

    Note: If Power Options is not available, change View by to Large icons at the top right of the Control Panel.

  3. Click Change plan settings next to the power plan you want to edit.

  4. Change the drop-down menu next to Put the computer to sleep to the amount of idle time before the PC goes to sleep and then click Save changes.

    You need to list:
    Step 1 Open Control Panel From start
    Step 2 Open “Hardware and Sound”
    Step 3 Power Options.

    There is no way to go from step 1 to step 3 (your step 2) on my computer.
