Set Windows 7 to Write System Events When a BSOD Occurs

Learn how to set Windows 7 to write system events in the system log when a stop error or blue screen of death (BSOD) occurs.

  1. Right-click Computer in the Start Menu and then select Properties.
  2. Click Advanced system settings in the left column of the System window.

  3. Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section of the Advanced tab in the System Properties window.

  4. Check off Write an event to the system log and then click OK to save the settings.
