Using Aero Peek in Windows 7

Learn how to use Aero Peek to quickly see the desktop in Windows 7.

Aero Peek has taken the place of the Show Desktop function in previous versions of Windows.  Aero Peek tries to help you multitask by giving you an easy way to see the desktop when you have a bunch of windows open to quickly glance at an icon or desktop gadget.

How to Use Aero Peek

Here is a desktop with a few windows open.

If you look to the right of the date and time on the taskbar you’ll see a small rectangle.  Hover the mouse over the rectangle and watch the windows disappear.

Using Aero Peek in the Taskbar

You can also use Aero Peek to single out one open window from all the rest.

If you point at one of the programs that are open and then hover the mouse over the live preview of the window all the other windows will melt away.
