How to completely close an app in Windows 8

In a perfect world you shouldn’t have to worry about closing apps in Windows 8. Most of the time Windows 8 does a great job at managing how apps run in the background. Sometimes Windows 8 gets it wrong or the app crashes and you just want to completely close the app and re-open it again.

There’s no straight forward approach to completely closing apps, but there is a way.

Completely Close A Windows 8 App

Note: This method of closing an app is easy, but a bit harsh, and can ruin your day if that app has any unsaved data in its possession.

1. Go to the desktop by opening the Desktop app.
2. Right click the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen and then select Task Manager.

   

3. Select the app you want to completely close and then click the End task button.

   

Now the app is completely closed.
