Using the task manager to completely close an app in Windows 8.
In a perfect world you shouldn’t have to worry about closing apps in Windows 8. Most of the time Windows 8 does a great job at managing how apps run in the background. Sometimes Windows 8 gets it wrong or the app crashes and you just want to completely close the app and re-open it again.
There’s no straight forward approach to completely closing apps, but there is a way.
Completely Close A Windows 8 App
Note: This method of closing an app is easy, but a bit harsh, and can ruin your day if that app has any unsaved data in its possession.
- Go to the desktop by opening the Desktop app.
- Right click the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen and then select Task Manager.

- Select the app you want to completely close and then click the End task button.

Now the app is completely closed.
