OK using this tool is very easy.

First of all you need to download Automatic Disk Cleanup (ADC) if you haven’t done so already. You can download it here. When you download ADC you will be prompted with a security warning from Internet Explorer similar to the box below.

Internet Explorer considers this file a security threat because it’s an executable file. An executable file can cause harm to your computer if the person who created it wanted. Don’t worry, I am just using an executable file to make it easy on you. Click run. Once you click run it will download and then give you a second security warning like the one below.

Click run to start the unzipping process. You’ll see a window similar to the one shown below.

Click unzip.

Note: Don’t change where it says unzip to folder. That needs to stay at C:\ for this tool to work properly.

Once it unzips you’ll get a confirmation telling you the files were unzipped successfully. Click OK.

Now you need to open My Computer which is usually located on your desktop or in the start menu. Once My Computer is open, you need to open your C drive. Now that your in the C drive open the folder called Automatic Disk Cleanup. It’ll look similar to the screen shot below.

The first thing you’ll need to do is set up a few things in the registry so that when this tool runs it knows what to clean. Don’t panic I took all the work out of it for you. Simply double-click AutoDiskCleanupSET. This will open a black window then another window similar to the one below.

Note: If you’re using Microsoft Antispyware it might ask you if this tool can run. Select Allow and close the tool when it opens and open it again. This will happen the first time you open each file in this tool.

Check off everything you want your computer to clean automatically every time this tool is run. If you don’t know what to check off, just check all of them off. (That’s what I do.) When you are finished, click OK.

Now all you have to do is double-click AutoDiskCleanup to run the tool. It’ll remember the settings you just set and clean out your computer. When it’s finished with that it’ll automatically defragment your local drives. In most cases when it’s finished it automatically closes disk defragmenter for you.

That’s about it. Enjoy!
