Hey Brent, thanks for the great post…… I have a question for you, I play online poker and when I signed up they didnt have the same offers they have now on rakeback. I get nothing on my rakeback and i’m throwing away thousands of dollars…. What do I need to change on my computer in order to “hide who I was”? Is it only my public IP or do I need to change other stuff too? And I did read where you said I have no control over my public but is it possible for me to ask my internet provider to change this for me?

You can only change your private IP address (the IP of the computer in your LAN). The survey is taking note of your public IP (your internet modem’s IP) which you can’t change.

So changing your computer’s IP won’t make you look like a different person filling out the survey.

hey lets say i use my ip adress for sumthing like a survey but if u do it again u wil get banned but if i change my ip adrres willl i still get banned if i do it again???

Hi, I have two home computers networked via a 4 port router. If I change the IP address with this method on one computer, will it cause problems with the other? Both are running on vista, but one is for gaming and one is my work laptop (the one I’m wanting to change the IP address). Thanks so much.

I’m using a PPP wireless adapter card through a celluler company. I got banned for 24 hrs through a game server. I try to release my ip. It tells me that it needs to be elavated. No idea what that means. I type renew and it says the media is disconnected. The IP changes everytime I connect and disconnect from the internet. Yet it still detects me to keep me out during that 24 hrs. The puplic Ip changes everytime I reconnect right? It’s windows vista. I don’t know if it uses DCHP or not. Is just strange to me. I don’t think the Ip is leased seeing that it changes everytime i reconnect. Any ideas on what the case may be. Used to when I had cable i just release and renew. I believe it only blocked my computers Ip. The thing is i can change my public IP, but i can’t change my computers IP. Something about needs to be elevated and media disconnected.
Please Help.

When I change it, it won’t connect to the internet. What should I change it to?
