Check the Activation Status of Windows Vista

Learn how to check the activation status of a Windows Vista computer.

If you’re evaluating Windows Vista here’s an easy way to find out how long you have left before the evaluation license runs out.

  1. Open the command prompt (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt).
  2. Type slmgr -xpr in the command prompt and then press enter on your keyboard.
  3. Wait a bit and a message will appear telling you the expiration date of the Windows Vista license or that the license is permanent.
