If you’re evaluating Windows Vista [1] here’s an easy way to find out how long you have left before the evaluation license runs out.

  1. Open the command prompt (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt).
  2. Type slmgr -xpr in the command prompt and then press enter on your keyboard.
  3. Wait a bit and a message will appear telling you the expiration date of the Windows Vista license or that the license is permanent.
