Create a Custom Power Scheme

Windows Vista comes with 3 pre configured power plans for you to use. This guide shows you how to create your own custom power plan based on your computer’s power needs.

Create a Custom Power Scheme

  1. Right-click an empty space on your desktop and then select Personalize.
  2. Click Screen Saver.
  3. Click Change power settings under Power Management in the Screen Saver Settings window.
  4. Click Create a power plan on the left side of the Power Options window.
  5. Select an existing power plan as the template for your custom power plan.

  6. Give your custom power plan a name under Plan name.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Set the general settings for your custom power plan.

  9. Click Create.
  10. Fine-tune the power plan’s advanced power settings [3].
