InPrivate or commonly called “porn mode” is a new feature introduced with Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) that lets you browse the web without leaving any tracks of what sites you’ve visited.

This is a great feature for using a bank website at a friend’s house or visiting websites you don’t want others finding out you’ve visited. The downside of this feature is if you can do it your kids can too.

This guide shows you various ways to disable InPrivate browsing mode or “porn mode” in Internet Explorer 8.

Disable InPrivate Browsing From IE8 Options

  1. Click Tools located on the top right of Internet Explorer 8.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Check off Disable InPrivate Blocking data.

  5. Click OK to save these settings.

Warning: InPrivate mode can easily be re-enabled by a determined child by simply unchecking Disable InPrivate Blocking data in Internet Options. Thankfully InPrivate mode is disabled no matter how it’s set up in Internet Options when Parental Controls are turned on [2].
