Introduction

You can save a little hard drive space by setting folders to be compressed using NTFS compression. Once they are compressed your computer uncompresses the files on-the-fly when they are being used and recompresses them when finished with.

Compress a Folder with NTFS Compression

  1. Right-click the folder you want compressed and click Properties.
  2. Click Advanced.

  4. Click OK in the Document Properties box. You’ll be asked if you want to compress the files and folder within the folder you’re compressing. Make your choice and click OK.
