Stop 0×77 KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

Posted By Brent Trahan On September 15, 2008 @ 8:48 am In All, Troubleshooting, Vista, Windows | No Comments

A Stop 0×77 message indicates that a page of kernel data requested from the paging (virtual memory) could not be found or read into memory. Disk hardware failure, data corruption, or virus activity can also cause this message.

Resolving the Problem

Before you can fix this problem you need to figure out what caused it. This will help out a lot when troubleshooting the problem.

  1. Check for bad sectors on your hard drive by running check disk [1].
  2. If you’re using a SCSI disk, check the cabling and make sure it’s properly terminated.
  3. Check your memory for defects. Try running the memory diagnostics tool [2].
  4. You might also want to check for scratches or cracks on your motherboard.
