In my attempt to upgrade from Win 2K to XP – the installation stops and is looking for mmrtkrnl.sys. My understanding from reading web pages is that this is a file that may be infected. This is a Real Player file?
Now…what do I do? If I cancel – It reboots and restarts the install and returns in a loop. I did a browse and found a file – but I then got a crash screen. Then – back to the loop.
I can not start in 2k mode – even though it is offered at boot – it is missing a file. I can not boot in safe mode – I suppose because I am half way thru the XP install?
