How-to troubleshoot the Stop Message: Stop 0xEA or THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER.

A device driver is causing the computer to pause indefinitely. This problem is caused by a display driver waiting for the video hardware to enter into an idle state in most cases. This can be caused by a faulty driver or hardware.

Resolving the Problem

Before you can fix this problem you need to figure out what caused it. Did you recently install new software or hardware? This will help out a lot when troubleshooting the problem.

  1. If you recently installed a new driver, uninstall it. If you recently updated a driver, try rolling it back to a previous working version.
  2. Try replacing the video card.
  3. If you or software you installed recently installed a system service, try disabling or uninstalling the service.
