Stop 0xFE or BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER

The Stop 0xFE error message occurs if the kernel detects an error in the USB driver.

Resolving the Problem

Before you can fix this problem you need to figure out what caused it. Did you recently install new software or hardware? This will help out a lot when troubleshooting the problem.

  1. Check your computer motherboard’s manufacturer website for updated motherboard drivers.
  2. Update the firmware and drivers for all USB hardware attached to the computer.
  3. Verify that all USB hardware is compatible with Windows Vista.
  4. Remove each USB hub or devices one-by-one to see if one of them is causing the problem.
