Stop Newly Installed Programs from Being Highlighted in Windows Vista’s Start Menu

Introduction

This guide shows you how to stop programs that have just been installed from showing up highlighted in Windows Vista’s start menu.

Disable Highlighted Programs

  1. Right-click the Start button and then select Options.
  2. Click the Customize button next to Start menu.
  3. Scroll about half way down and uncheck Highlight newly installed programs.
