Turn the Message Received Sound On or Off in Windows Mail

Learn how to turn the sound that plays when Windows Mail for Windows Vista receives a new e-mail message on or off.

Turn Message Received Sound On/Off

  1. Open Windows Mail.
  2. Click Tools and then select Options.
  3. Uncheck Play sound when new messages arrive under Send / Receive Messages to turn the sound off or check it to turn the sound on.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.
